The button opens the Items window. One of the tabs contains the Item Store. You can purchase a lot of useful things there: resources, boosts, speed-ups, etc. All items that are purchased and received in battles are displayed in the My Items tab.

You can buy and apply several items at the same time. To do this, hit and hold the "Purchase," "Apply," or "Buy and apply" buttons.
